Established in 1985 E.C.S (Originally named Electronic Component Supplies) are based on the Wirral peninsular in Merseyside, North West England. E.C.S originally began trading in semiconductors & other components to brown goods service engineers, Our additional trade repair service for electronic equipment ensured a constant stream of tricky faults to keep us busy. As profit margins for repair services narrowed due to lower pricing of new goods, We found ourselves (along with most other engineers) under increasing pressure to complete repairs quickly, This led to the original thinking behind our service publications, Engineers sharing information together - Saving time solving the same faults over & over again 1989 saw the release of our first publication "Television Magazine Fault Index books", With new editions following at 6 monthly intervals, These books were an instant hit amongst service personel worldwide. Many engineers impressed with the style of the new books started requesting different types of service publications, E.C.S Responded with the release of the 1st Edition Equivalents guides (1993) followed by the 1st Edition Kwik tips Books (1994). 1995 saw the release of our first fault index disk version followed by the Kwik Tips On Disk Repair System, This was a logical step for us as computers and programming were an integrated part of the business right from the start. (Our first PC in 1985 was an Amstrad 1512 with a "huge" 20Meg hard drive) The disk versions allowed cheaper & more convenient data updates & many of our long standing customers with PCs have now converted to the software versions with their extra facilities. E.C.S Continues 17 years on, Endeavoring to ease the increasing pressure on service engineers, Our growing range of modestly priced service data remains in daily use, saving time & money in service centres around the world.
